UK Three Peaks Doko Challenge
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Arjun Rana currently serving in the Queen's Gurkha Signals. My team is raising funds for the QGS & SSAFA the Armed Forces Charity by completing the UK Three Peaks Challenge carrying a Doko (Wicker Basket).
On 22 Jul 23, four members from 246 Gurkha Signal Squadron, 1 Signal Regiment: Sig Bhupin, Sig Roshan, LCpl Alan & LCpl Arjun will be climbing the three highest mountains in the UK - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon carrying the Doko Basket with 15Kg of weight in under 24 hours covering a total distance of 38km and elevation gain of over 3000m.
The challenge is inspired by the famous Doko Race that all aspiring Potential Recruits have to undertake during the Gurkha Selection in Pokhara, Nepal. It is a gruelling 5km race up a steep mountain to join the prestigious, Brigade of Gurkhas - a true testament to the sheer robustness and endurance of a Gurkha Soldier.
Queen's Gurkha Signals will be using the raised funds to build a heritage site in Nepal to uphold our tradition - 'Kaida', which underpins everything we do as a Paltan & a memorial for those that paid the ultimate price fighting for the crown.
SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is a trusted source of support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need.
The total raised funds will be equally distributed to both organisations.
We will be extremely grateful for each and every donation made for this special cause - regardless of how big or small the amount is. Your support will be a huge driving factor & motivation for us to complete this mammoth challenge.
