UK Wildlife Rehabilitation Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Katy and I've been a wildlife rehabilitator for 7 years. It’s the time of year where we are very suddenly going to be thrown into baby season for wildlife. Last year was absolutely manic, and this year is going to be worse.
I took in 120 birds last year, 34 of them being house martins, 22 swifts and 6 swallows; all the others were various song birds/pigeons/gulls. It costs about £11 to feed a swift per week so as you can imagine, the costs are astronomical.
Swifts and house martins are red list species on the RSPB Bird of Conservation Concern List - meaning they are in massive decline currently in the UK, so they need all the help they can get at the moment!
I am raising funds to help me, help them. I nearly had to shut to admissions last year due to funds and so this year I'm trying to prevent that from happening.
I recently did a breakdown for how much I would have spent on the animals that came in to me for care.
FOOD ONLY:
Swifts: £580 (min)
House Martins and Swallows: £360 (min)
Other birds: £78
EQUIPMENT/UTENSILS/HOUSING:
£165
£199 for an aviary
£250 for an incubator
Taking all this into account, I need to raise £1000 this year to ensure I have enough food, funds for veterinary care and equipment ready for the influx of babies that are heading my way.
Could you spare £5 to help? Any donation big or small is massively appreciated!
