Cal Fire Firefighter Relief Fund
Field of Dreams, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based out of Northern California that provides outdoor opportunities for veterans, children of our fallen and special needs children. Every year we host a Kids fishing Day and we have been fortunate enough to have Cal Fire help us in anyway they can. Cal Fire has always been there to support us, so we would like to give them something back. As most of you know, California has had one of the worst fire seasons this year. The Valley fire is now among 10 of the most destructive state wildfires. Right now Cal Fire officials say that 585 homes have been destroyed as well as at least 600 structures. While fighting the Valley Fire, 9 firefighters lost their own homes while trying to save the homes of others. As of right now, these are the known victims of the Valley fire:
- Battalion Chief Paul Duncan and Communications Operator Courtney Duncan of Hidden Valley
-Fire Captain Justin Galvan of Middletown
-FF Matt Maxwell of Middletown
-FF Dave Watkins of Hidden Valley
-FF Robert Hamblin-Taylor on Cobb
-FF Kyle Catto lost his home in Mokelumne Hill to the Butte Fire
-FAE Steve Cherry of Middletown
-Retired HFEO Ken Leuzinger of Middletown
We started this fundraiser to help these local heroes for all that they have done for us. They are brave enough to fight these fires and protect us, so now is our chance to help them in their time of need as well as show our gratitude. All of the funds raised will go directly into the Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Firefighter Relief Fund.
