Kindness for Kevin-Brain Cancer Assistance
Donation protected
1/19/24 UPDATE:
Kevin has successfully completed his radiation and is doing well! There is now a one month break before additional MRI's are performed and more treatment can begin. Thank you to all who have donated thus far, please keep spreading the word and please continue to keep Kevin and his family in your thoughts and prayers!
Hello everyone. This Go Fund Me is to help support my brother-in-law Kevin, his wife Kristy, and their son Jordan during Kevin's fight with brain cancer.
In late October 2023, Kevin was rushed to the ER with symptoms of a bad headache, irritability, and vision loss. After a transfer to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, a tumor the size of an orange was found on the back of Kevin's brain. Surgery was performed and as much of the tumor that could be visible was removed. Kevin remained in he hospital for a few days and then was transferred to inpatient rehab for a week to assist with his physical and speech needs. During this time, Kevin was diagnosed with having a grade 4 astrocytoma, also known as a glioblastoma, which is the most aggressive type of brain cancer there is and is unfortunately, incurable.
The treatment for Kevin's glioblastoma is a long and intense process. Currently Kevin is receiving daily chemotherapy and is undergoing radiation 5 days a week. In addition to these treatments, Kevin is also attending physical and speech therapy. Even though surgery was performed to remove the primary tumor, glioblastomas have "tentacles" and spread throughout the brain. So it is very possible that additional surgeries, chemo, and/or radiation may be needed in the future.
As mentioned there is no cure for this very aggressive brain cancer, and with Kevin being relatively young in age, himself and his family have a long road ahead both physically and financially. Due to this diagnosis, Kevin is no longer able to work or drive, which means the financial burden and transportation is put directly on his wife Kristy. This decrease in income in combination with large medical bills, therapy costs, prescription costs, accessibility needs, transportation for all his appointments, etc. has put his family in financial ruin.
Your financial contribution, no matter how big or small, would help out tremendously! If your not able to or are uncomfortable making a monetary donation, needs such as meals, gift cards, groceries, gas cards, transportation, other talents, a phone call, hugs, and prayers are all welcome. Please feel free to reach out to this site if you'd wish to set up a non-monetary donation or if you need to contact myself or Kevin's family further. If known, you may contact Kevin or Kristy directly as well. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, assistance, donations, generosity, and, of course, kindness.
