Emerald Sketch Ukraine Art Therapy War Response

Emerald Sketch Art therapy Response Team offers immediate crisis intervention and psychological support for children after Human driven mass disasters. The Response Team is now stationed in Ukraine, Poland and various regions throughout Eastern Europe with Ukrainian Voices of Children Foundation —which provides psychological support for children affected by the war.

We urgently need your support to sponsor these professional Art therapists to work with children who have fled the war, witnessed horrors including rape, execution, and/or have been isolated/separated for long periods of time. Our goal is to raise funding to maintain clinical training for over 40 therapists via zoom who are working with surviving children now.  Additionally, we will use the funding raised to sustain American Art therapy trauma resources to work with the clinicians of Voices of Children who are all survivors of War and devastation.

Emerald Sketch Art Therapy Response Team

Emerald Sketch Art Therapy Response Team is leading the training effort for Voices of Children Foundation first responders.  A small, local foundation in Western Ukraine, Voices of Children has had overwhelming demand for its services since the start of the war.

Emerald Sketch provides immediate and ongoing trauma response training as Voices of Children psychologists carry on their dangerous work, making the daily  crossing from the Poland border into Ukraine to work with children and families trapped there.  Emerald Sketch trains Voices of Children psychologists in live-time response techniques necessary to support children during this ongoing horror.

Emerald Sketch co-founder and Clinical Director, Nicole Porter says, “ It is remarkable to observe the benefits of psychological creative arts therapy services for children.  There is a great appreciation in Ukraine and Eastern Europe for the impact of the Art therapy process to rebuild a child’s sense of safety and security.”

Emerald Sketch was the first mental health agency for the children and families of Newtown, CT immediately after the Sandy Hook School Tragedy in 2012.  This program was sustained with private donations for the 18 months it took for the town to establish its own community federal funding.

Our goal is to raise $50,000. This will sustain the Therapy War Response programming for up to six months. The work will include:

We urgently require two English-speaking medically-trained, Ukrainian Ambassadors to translate the Trauma Response Manual into Ukrainian to distribute it to the first responders.

Monthly Trauma Trainings for the 40+ Psychologists working for Voices of Children

Assistance with on-the-ground staff and transportation

Fees to access the  American Psychology Team network which will initiate the peer-to peer Social Connection program for Voices of Children

Thank you for joining the Emerald Sketch Art therapy Response Team in our efforts to maintain sustainable support for the necessary War Response.   All contributions, and sharing for greater awareness is highly appreciated.  On behalf of the child survivors, and the clinicians on the ground the Emerald Sketch is grateful for you.
