Ukrainian Circus Artists from Kyiv need our help

"I came to save my family. When the war started I left Kyiv with my close friends Arina and Denys. We went to the countryside with three days of food and no clothes. We planned to wait for a couple of days hoping the conflict would pass. As things got worse we realized that we could not return to get our things and that we had to get out as fast as we could. We didn't have much gasoline and there were many cars already heading towards the Polish border.
My sister Oksana was still in Kyiv. I desperately wanted to help her, but could not go back. Luckily I found friends who could help. She was able to get in their car and escape. As we neared the border we got in line with all the other cars trying to leave. It took three days and three nights with little sleep, as the line would move every 20-30 minutes. I was driving. It was exhausting.
We chose to come to Berlin because I have a good friend here who offered us help. We arrived late on Thursday 3 March. On Friday evening I was reunited with my sister, a miracle in itself in these difficult times." Borys

Dear Circus Family, Friends and Fans,
The Ukrainian circus artists Borys, Oksana, Arina and Denys, staying with me in Berlin. They left Kyiv in a hurry and were not able to take anything with them. Arina and Denys left behind a circus school they had built from the ground up, full of equipment, tools, costumes and instruments. Arina and Denys believe in sharing their art, love, and knowledge of circus with the next generation. Borys had been helping teach and train at the school, as well as perform in their variety performances. Oksana left her theater company and landscape designing job.
I am reaching out to you for help. They want to stay in shape, continue working and teaching circus. In Berlin they are in the process of applying for asylum. This can take months and during this time they are not permitted to work.
Thank you in advance for your prayers for them, their families, our circus family and Ukraine. All help and support is greatly appreciated! Please do not hesitate to contact me privately if you have any questions.
