Refugees Veronika & Lena
Donation protected
Imagine hearing that your country is on the verge of being invaded. Think of what it would be like to wake up with bombing around your hometown, and you have just a short time to get out. This happened to my friend and former co-worker Galina Sokolsky's family, who lived in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
Less than two weeks ago, their lives changed forever. Fortunately, they successfully found emergency transportation to get from Kharkiv to Lviv, which led to escape through Poland, but this journey took their remaining funds.
Now they are both homeless, and with the increasingly urgent refugee situation in Europe, Galina and her daughter Julie are working night and day to help them find stability.
Lena, a widower, has given up the only home she knew, which was her retirement security. Russian bombs have destroyed the apartment in her beloved Kharkiv. Her daughter, Galina's niece Veronika/Nikka, can no longer work as a nurse anesthetist as she was trained. They both live day-to-day trying to figure out the next steps, which looks like asking for asylum in Germany.
If you can help with even the smallest amount, it will help them have the funds they need to rebuild their lives. They will need housing, food, clothing, and legal assistance. There are over 3 million refugees from this senseless war who need help. Please consider contributing to the funds to help them find peace and stability as this terrible war has disrupted their lives.
