John's Battle with Cancer

Cancer is a word no one ever wants to hear. My dad uttered this word to me, and life swerved. My name is Shondra, and this fundraiser is to help my dad, John, with the financial toll that this disease has taken on him and my mom.

While he has been receiving treatment at the City of Hope, my mom (his spouse) has devoted her time to helping her husband through this hellish journey. She works as a Teacher's Aide for a school and does not receive full pay and benefits. This has left her with the need to cover Cobra medical costs while she cares for my dad.

As his stay at City of Hope has gone on, he has started to receive the catastrophic bills accompanying this treatment. Any funds earned through this fundraiser will help him cover these costs.

Treatment for cancer does not end at the hospital. My dad will have many prescriptions for a variety of medicines. In addition, he will have to drive back and forth to City of Hope from Hemet, which will cost a great deal given the current gas prices.

My goal is for finances to be one less thing for my dad to stress about so that he can focus on improving physically.
