Ultimate Frisbee Community Call to Action
Donation protected
In partnership with the AUDL Inclusion Initiative Committee (AII), the panelists are creating a GoFundMe Donation page, and will be calling out to the ultimate community to raise money to support the recent developments in the country. The AII strives to increase racial and cultural diversity and inclusion in the sport of ultimate by engaging communities of color and partnering with people who share the same mission. We encourage our fans and supporters around the world to learn about how police brutality affects their communities and research how to best take action.
The community will be leveraged in the decision of where the money goes. With their donation, they will specify whether they want the money to be donated to ActBlueCharities, which will split the donation amongst 70+ local bail funds, community aid funds, and racial justice organizers. Or whether they want the money to be donated to the centralized Know Your Rights Camp. The reason for picking this national organization over others is the following: There exists a pipeline that gets people of color into prisons, and there are different "checkpoints" along that pipeline, from the moment you get arrested, to the moment you don't have bail funds, to the moment you don't have adequate representation, to the moment you get charged and put away. The Know Your Rights Camp is committed to educating people about the rights they have as soon as they are approached by a police officer, which is the start of the aforementioned pipeline.
Different anonymous donors are committed to matching up to $14k of what the community raises. The AUDL and its owners have committed to matching a minimum $13k of what the community raises. If the community raises $27k, we will double that through the matching commitments which will bring the total to $54k.
Along with your donation, specify if you want the money to go to ActBlueCharities or the Know Your Rights Camp. The organization that receives the most support will receive the $54k.
