Ultra Run for a Cause - Montauk to Central Park
Tax deductible
On January 8, 2022, I will be running from Montauk to Manhattan to raise funds for Long Island Crisis Center, a nonprofit that provides 24/7, free, high quality, confidential and non-judgemental programs and services to support and empower Long Islanders at critical times in their lives.
The run will begin at 6 A.M., Saturday in Montauk (at Montauk Point State Park) and finish in Manhattan (at Strawberry Fields Monument in Central Park).
Nearly 1 in every 5 adults experiences some form of mental illness. Now is no better time to bring awareness to this medical condition. Together as a community, we can do this!
I am not specialist in the field, and I can only speak from personal experience. Depression, suicidal thoughts and anxiety have always been a struggle for me. As I have grown, so did my mental issues. One of the ways I have overcome my thoughts and feelings was through running. There is something magical about it for me. Being by myself and learning to love and embrace loneliness allows me to reconsider how beautiful my life really is.
Not only has running allowed me to connect with an amazing community of people, I now know that I am never alone. This run is my way of bringing awareness to something that effects so many of us, yet is so often not talked about.
