(Ultra)Marathon for the Christmas Spirit

For many of us, the seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas are a time of family gatherings, lavish feasts, respite from work, gifts, jollity and frivolity. However, there are plenty of people facing hardships even through such a cozy time of year. That's why I had the idea of hosting a marathon running event to inspire one of the most noble gifts; giving to someone you don't even know.

I am creating a fundraiser for TrueNorth Community Services. In case you haven't heard of this organization; it is a private, nonprofit organization that provides over 60 comprehensive programs and services to the residents of Newaygo County. Services and programs include: Heating and housing assistance - Food pantry and senior food program - Medical assistance and medical equipment loan program and more.

The past few months I've been training for a trail marathon, but I thought I would put my training to an even better use. Every donation will be a bid for how many miles you would like to see me run in one day! Both big and small donations are welcome. After all donations come in, I will calculate an average and run that distance on either the coming Sunday of December 5th or December 12th. To keep my body safe at my current fitness level, any donations over $50 will be calculated as multiple donations so that the run distance will be under 50 miles. I'm hoping the average comes out somewhere in between a marathon (26.2 miles) and 50 miles. If the average is a little low, I'll be rounding it up to a full marathon anyway :)

Later, I'll be posting a route so that anyone who donates can drive past, or run a few miles with me on the day of the run!

P.S If you live in a different area, or even a different country, and feel strongly about a different community organization, feel free to donate to that instead! (I had a few Michigan based services in mind, but this website only allows me to add one nonprofit organization to the event) Just please contact me to let me know how much you donated, so I can add it to the run distance average.
