Help Tracy with Medical Expenses

Donation protected
As some of you may know, our mother Tracy Storer Liggett has had a rough couple of months. Her health issues began 10/2 with pain in her mouth and jaw. She desperately began searching for answers with multiple visits to the dentist, chiropractor, doctor and ER. She was finally admitted to St. Rita's Medical Center for two weeks due to the excruciating pain she was in and her MRI showing lesions on her brain. While there she underwent surgery to have a biopsy of her temporal artery, two lumbar punctures, and multiple other tests and procedures. She was discharged on 10/31 with an appointment set up to see a headache specialist in January. We have never seen our Mom in that amount of pain and suffering. She was terrified and afraid for her life.

On the following morning 11/1, her fiancé Mike drove her to the OSU Medical Center ER. She was admitted that same day. In the next few days she started declining more and more. She could not open her left eye and she was unaware of her surroundings. She also did not recognize our Aunt Julie or her fiancé Mike who were both there with her. They only allow 2 visitors per patient for the duration of the patient's stay. That Friday, 11/5, my aunt called all four of us girls and told us we needed to come there as fast as we could. She stopped responding and they had to intubate her and take her for an emergency MRI. The MRI results were not what we wanted to hear...

They showed that she had Meningitis and also suffered a stroke. There were pockets of infection on her brain and they had to do an emergency craniotomy that night to drain and rinse the largest abscess. We were not all able to see her before the surgery and one of us had to sign for consent since she was not responsive. Therefore Brittney had to switch places with Mike and her and our Aunt Julie stayed in a hotel in Columbus to be with her everyday. She spent the next few weeks in the NCCU. The infection also went to her lungs and blood. She was in acute respiratory failure along with a fever and other things which made her very very sick. On 11/14 they found another abscess on her neck and also behind her left eye which resulted in another surgery. They found another large abscess on her brain but decided not to operate due to it being very close to the part of the brain that affects speech. They are hoping the antibiotics they have her on will treat it. On 11/17 she was moved to the Brain and Spine unit in the hospital were she spent the remainder of her stay.

She was discharged on 12/1 and is now currently at home. She has a picc line in her arm where she receives IV antibiotics every 8 hours. She is on oral antibiotics, multiple medications and will need another eye surgery in the near future. She has MANY upcoming appointments including speech, therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, infectious disease, cardiology, urology, neurology, eye appointments, picc line dressing changes, blood work, and 4 upcoming MRIs to see her progress! We are so very thankful to still have our Mom here with us! She is strong and stubborn! This is why we are asking for help for her. We know she will not ask. Any donation, of any amount is so greatly appreciated. We do not know how long she will be unable to work. So decreasing financial stress and worry as much as possible would benefit her recovery. Thank you everyone for your continued support and prayers.
