Walk With Erin

Hi, my name is Anne Ellman Evers, I am writing this to ask for help during this difficult time for my daughter Erin and her family. On August 19th she was working full time, caring for her two boys, Parker and Oliver (3 1/2 and 1 1/2) and living with her husband in NYC. On August 25th, 2022 the life of my daughter and her family changed. Erin had a brain bleed caused by a ruptured aneurysm. The life-saving procedure she needed caused a stroke that resulted in her losing the use of the left side of her body. She was in Neuro ICU for several weeks before being transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. This whole time separated from her family.

Erin still has a long way to go to reclaim her life. She continues in outpatient physical therapy to this day. Erin is dedicated 7 days a week to her recovery. As time goes on, considering insurance limitations, the majority of her physical therapy needs to happen at home.

People have been asking how they can help. Initially, all we could say was to send healing positive thoughts Erin's way. As time goes on in her recovery there are more financial needs. Those needs are home exercise equipment, medical supplies, co-pays, and extra child care. Additionally, due to the current situation, her family has to move out of NYC to a more accessible living situation.

If you know Erin you know she's a warm, compassionate, independent person. She's always been supportive of her friends and family, and always very private. This is not an easy thing for her to agree to me doing. I see how hard she works every day on her recovery while also working remotely and being there for her boys.

Erin has spent the last 20 years walking around NYC. It's one of her favorite things to do. Erin is determined to walk independently once again. She's doing her part every day to get closer to that goal. Your donation will help her to continue on this journey.
