Umunomo Free Medical Outreach Programme 2023

Each year, the Umunomo Free Medical Outreach Programme provides an invaluable service in Umunomo village in the Eastern region of Nigeria by providing medical care for those who are unable to afford this essential requirement and basic need.

Established and spearheaded by Father Martin Onuoha, the medical programme delivered each year provides a series of clinics and outreach facilities for the region's community - from GP Consultation & Prescriptions to Eye Surgery, Minor Injuries & Health Check Ups - the Outreach Programme is a lifeline to this community and neighbouring villages, without which, hundreds would sadly go untreated and unseen.

 

 

This initiative (now in its 4th year) strives to make the health and wellbeing of the Umunomo-Region a priority by ensuring that all services provided to its residents are free and accessible.

 

 

 

The project is delivered on a large scale to ensure as many within the community can be cared for, dependent on resources and available staff. The target for the 'Annual Outreach' is 20 doctors and 30 Nurses to attend to 1000 patients - with infrastructure, equipment and medication all sourced and funded for the Programme.

 

 

 

We are fundraising to support the next planned outreach programme to be delivered in Early 2023. The Outreach service is a none profit endeavour and receives no funding. It has so far relied on Fr Martin’s meagre savings and gifts from his friends - The last one was very kindly funded by our previous GoFundMe initiative. Please help us to be able to deliver this vital service to the needy again this January.

 

 

 

Each Outreach Programme costs approximately £5,000.00 (the scale is dictated by available funds) to deliver, which covers the costs of Doctors, Nurses, Medication, Surgeries, Feeding, and Infrastructure.

A donation of just £20 would fund the wages of one Doctor for the programme, and £15 would fund a nurse, £100 would cover the cost of essential eye surgery for someone who desperately requires it and a donation of £400 would cover the costs of hiring of necessary equipment, including gazebos, chairs/tables screens, hospital beds etc. required during the programme. The bulk of the money goes towards purchase of medication.
