William Ray Flores Memorial Statue

Donation protected
We are raising funds to cover the cost of a memorial statue for William Ray Flores to be erected in his hometown of Benbrook, Texas.
William was a Coast Guardsman who gave his life so that others lived when his ship was struck by another ship and sunk leaving Tampa Florida on January 28, 1980. To recognize his heroism he was awarded the Coast Guard Medal, the service’s highest award for heroism notinvolving combat  in September 2000. In 2011 a 154 foot Fast Response Cutter was  named after him and currently performing its mission out of its home port of Miami, Fl. His incredible story is told on various websites.
Lets give this unbelievably brave Coast Guardsman and his family a worthy memorial  that will immortalize and educate the citizens and their children of his hometown.
