Ce l’abbiamo fatta a costruire la nuova casetta (22 mq) a Bakka, nel distretto di Wakiso (vicino a Kampala/Uganda) per la famiglia composta da Grandma Nabuuso (73 anni) e i nipoti orfani Mark (8), Michael (9), Madrine (10) e Alex (16) in soli 20 giorni! We managed to build the new house (22 sq meters) in Bakka, in the Wakiso district (near Kampala/Uganda) for the family consisting of Grandma Nabuuso (73 years old) and the orphaned grandchildren Mark (8), Michael (9), Madrine (10), and Alex (16) in just 20 days! Sono appena rientrata dal viaggio a Kampala, dove ho potuto seguire parte dei lavori sul posto.

È stato impegnativo, ma il progetto ci ha dato tanta soddisfazione e la gratitudine dimostrata della famiglia ci ha ripagato il doppio. Nel viaggio si è aggiunta la mia amica Cuni e insieme vorremmo condividere la loro gratitudine con tutti coloro che ci hanno supportato finanziariamente e quelli che lo faranno per completare il progetto.

E un enorme grazie a Eria che con il suo enorme impegno continua a gestire le ultime questioni e il trasloco che deve concludersi con urgenza in quanto vecchia casa sta crollando a causa delle piogge e ogni giorno che passa la famiglia rischia la vita.

I have just returned from the trip to Kampala, where I was able to oversee part of the work on-site. It has been challenging, but the project has brought us a lot of satisfaction, and the family's demonstrated gratitude has rewarded us twofold. During the journey, my friend Cuni joined, and together we would like to share their gratitude with all those who have supported us financially and those who will do so to complete the project.

A huge thank you to Eria, who, with his immense dedication, continues to manage the final issues and the urgent relocation as the old house is collapsing due to the rains, and every passing day puts the family's lives at risk.

Mancano ancora alcuni elementi indispensabili affinché la famiglia possa vivere in modo normale. Così i bambini potranno iniziare la nuova scuola (già iniziata il 29 gennaio scorso!), speriamo lunedí 26 febbraio. Queste sono le cose fondamentali che vorremmo aggiungere con il vostro aiuto:

There are still some essential elements missing for the family to live a normal life. This will enable the children to start their new school (which already began on January 29th!), and we hope they can do so by Monday, February 26th. These are the fundamental things we would like to add with your help:

BAGNO A COMPOSTAGGIO il quale prede il posto alla tipica latrina e ha molti vantaggi ecologici e sostenibili. Non utilizza acqua, non contamina, é inodore, prevede poca manutenzione, fornisce alla fine fertilizzante liquido e compost sicuro in 8/12 mesi che la famiglia potrá vendere e avere un ulteriore sostentamento, può essere installato dove il livello della falda acquifera è alto e evita la costruzione costosa e intensiva in termini di lavoro di una fossa settica.

Se raggiungiamo i fondi, realizziamo questo bagno con una ONG locale che si chiama COMPOST TOILET UGANDA che ha molta esperienza in questo settore. Andate a vedere il profilo su Facebook. Abbiamo conosciuto Umar Kabunga dell'associazione non governativa che ci aiuta nel progetto.

Temporaneamente la famiglia utlizzerá una latrina in disuso. Quando arriva la toilet la famiglia parteciperá ad un workshop per imparare a gestire il compost :-)

COMPOST TOILET which replaces the typical pit latrine, offers many ecological and sustainable advantages. It uses no water, does not contaminate, is odorless, requires minimal maintenance, ultimately provides liquid fertilizer and safe compost within 8/12 months, which the family can sell for additional income. It can be installed in areas with a high water table, avoiding the costly and labor-intensive construction of a septic tank.

If we reach the necessary funds, we will implement this toilet project in collaboration with a local NGO called COMPOST TOILET UGANDA , which has extensive experience in this field. Please check out their profile on Facebook. We have met Umar Kabunga from the non-governmental organization, who is assisting us with the project. In the meantime, the family will use a disused latrine. When the toilet arrives, the family will participate in a workshop to learn how to manage the compost :-)

LETTI A CASTELLO, MATERASSI, BIANCHERIA sono necessari in quanto la famiglia ha al momento materassi e biancheria obsoleta a causa delle inondazioni.

BUNK BEDS, MATTRESSES, BEDDING, TOWELS are needed as the family currently has outdated mattresses and bedding due to the flooding.

SISTEMA SOLARE DOMESTICO - ILLUMINAZIONE E RICARICA CELLULARE La nuova casa non dispone ancora di allacciamento all'energia elettrica, situazione molto sovente in Africa. Questo sistema risolverebbe inizialmente il problema usando i raggi solari per caricare le lampade per la sera e il cellulare di Grandma.

SOLAR HOME SYSTEM - LIGHTING AND MOBILE The new house doesn't have access to the electricity grid yet, a situation often encountered in Africa. This system would initially solve the problem by using solar rays to charge lamps for the evening and Grandma's phone.

TRATTAMENTO DELLE TERMITI Nelle vicinanze della casa ci sono le termiti. Le termiti possono causare danni significativi alle strutture in legno di una casa, causando danni irreparabili. Devono essere dunque eliminate.

TERMITE TREATMENT Near the house, there are termites. Termites can cause significant damage to the wooden structures of a house, leading to irreparable harm. Therefore, they need to be eliminated.

Altre spese sono necessarie come un'iniziale derrata di cibo non deteriorabile (riso, fagioli secchi etc.), legna da bruciare per cucinare, accesso al pozzo, cartelle per la scuola e il minibus (matatu) per il trasloco.

Other small expenses are necessary, such as an initial stock of non-perishable food (rice, dried beans, etc.), firewood for cooking, access to the well, school supplies, and a minibus (matatu) for the relocation.

Qui trovate il budget previsto affinché il sogno di questa famiglia diventi realtá, i bambini possano avere una casa e non vivano nella paura, possano tornare a scuola, Grandma possa anche riposare e tutti possano avere un futuro. Il preventivo puó essere soggetto a variazioni perché i prezzi fluttuano o non ci sono i prodotti e bisogna acquistare quelli cari. Inoltre ci sono le spese bancarie, la commissione Gofundme, il cambio e la rimanenza del primo Gofundme per la realizzazione della casa.

The estimate may be subject to changes because prices fluctuate or products may not be available, requiring the purchase of more expensive alternatives.
