Will Jackie be brave enough to meet them face to face and have the courage to trust someone enough to help her find her way back?

Long after broken bones mend, broken spirits continue to bleed...
Many people are now aware that intimate partner violence and sexual violence are important and widespread public health problems in the United States. Statistic show that on average, 20 people per minute are victims of physical violence by an intimate partner. Over the course of a year, that equals more than 10 million women and men, not including the nearly 2 million women who are raped in a year. Credit CDC 2015
But, what most people are unaware of is the horrific implications of these statistics: that at least 12 million people a year are left mentally and emotionally devastated by this violence.

As a survivor, Melinda Raebyne, Asylum’s creator, and her production team, are producing this powerful short film to raise public awareness of what is happening and to support those on their own journey of healing from domestic and/or sexual violence. By cinematically presenting the common thread running through these emotionally charged issues, Asylum will provide strength and comfort to victims and their loved ones and help them realize that a harmonious and productive life can once more be theirs.
