Unaccessible: Fund a Film, Change the World!

Welcome! Thank you so much for joining me on this journey. My name is Hayden Snell. I was born almost 30 years ago with a medical condition called Spina Bifida, which resulted in full paralysis from the waist down and the use of a wheelchair for mobility since birth. Last summer, I ventured out on my first major travel on my own. While exploring four major tourist destination cities in the United States I began to notice that I never came across a single other solo traveler in a wheelchair. It soon became clear to me why that is. Over thirty years ago, the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed in hopes of guaranteeing equal rights to those born with any sort of disability. It turns out, as I discovered, we still have a long way to go. It broke my heart to find out that millions of people in this country and around the world aren't getting to experience the joys of life because the world is not equipped to accommodate their mobility needs. As a recent film school grad and someone who knows firsthand what it's like to grow up feeling so different from everyone else, as well as the mental and physical struggles that go along with that, I realized that it was up to me to bring awareness to this issue. Right then and there, Unaccessible was born.
Fundraising breakdown:
New MacBook Pro for editing - $3500
It cost me about $5000 to travel around Boston, NYC, Washington, D.C., and Chicago for a month. Wheelchair accessible hotel rooms, flights, trains, food, events, etc. In order to make this movie, I expect that cost to be multiplied several times as I travel across the country to document the accessibility situation of a wide range of cities.
Additional film equipment - $10,000 Cameras, microphones, audio equipment, tripods, filters, lenses etc.
Cost of living - Bills and rent don't go away while you're out chasing dreams.
Every single contribution is appreciated beyond words, thank you so much for being a part of this process and committing to the idea that equality means EVERYONE. Together we will change the world.
