My Story

Hello! My name is Sherita Henry and I am the Creator and Producer of Narrow Way Expressions. Narrow Way Expressions is a creative arts Christian faith-based production company that I started because I wanted to combine my passion for Christ, interests in writing for the stage, and social advocacy into an official theatre group.

 

I create art through writing because I believe there is power in my pen! I enjoy sharing the ‘everyday perspective’ because everyday stories are often overlooked. With my pen, I am equipped to create healing, laughter, love, and even encouragement. The possibilities are endless!

 

 

unbeliEVE: 'One Woman's Choice. A shame to redemption abortion story.'

Over the years, I have rewritten a play titled unbeliEVE. It is my shame to redemption abortion testimony. At first, I created unbeliEVE for personal reasons: to heal from the pain and grief associated with my loss. I became passionate about sharing my abortion story and developed courage to share it after I realized that my experience was not as isolated as I originally thought. During my research, I learned that in the United States, “one in three women have been touched by the pain and loss of abortion" (h3lpline.org) and "nine out of ten people surveyed don’t know where to go for healing after an abortion (supportafterabortion.com).” I wrote unbeliEVE to confront my prior thoughts and to also motivate and inspire myself and others to challenge the way we think and act about human life. In society, we often hear about the right to choose, but we don't hear about the consequences of making the choice.

 

 

A little bit about the play unbeliEVE:

The action is set in the home of newlyweds Eve and Coby Redd, in Raleigh NC.. Eve seems to have it all, especially with her new husband Coby who she has eating out of the palm of her hand. Being at the top of her game, she influences close friends Geneva and Victoria, as well as a newcomer Angela of her strategy to gain the most out of their 'less than the best' lives. Little does she know, all of her beliefs will crumble, causing her to challenge her faith.

 

Vision for unbeliEVE:

My vision is to raise awareness about mental health associated with abortion and to create safe spaces for community engagement. I create art, not only to entertain but also to educate and inspire. After each performance of unbeliEVE, my mission is to collaborate with members from the community who have valuable resources available for anyone who has experienced abortion. My wish is that after seeing unbeliEVE, an atmosphere will be created where individuals feel more open and free to discuss the topics where appropriate in order to bring about a form of healing. At the previous production of unbeliEVE, I had a talk-back Q&A session after the performances and received great feedback. I intend to continue with the Q&A sessions for future productions.

 

 

Why gofundme is needed:

Simply put, gofundme is needed to help produce an improved version of unbeliEVE. After the first production in April 2021 (in Raleigh, NC), I received a lot of great feedback. Many people inquired about when the next production would be! Some fans even expressed interest in seeing the show go on the road in the near future! In order to produce the revised version of unbeliEVE, your help is needed!
