"Be careful, you are not in Wonderland. I've heard the strange madness long growing in your soul. But you are fortunate in your ignorance, in your isolation. You who have suffered, find where love hides. Give, share, lose — lest we die, unbloomed."

-Kill Your Darlings (2013)

Ina and Jocelyn became friends their freshman year and have somehow managed to graduate college virgins. Fearing the real world and feeling behind, they decide to lose their virginities to each other, hoping the safety of experimenting with one another will give them the confidence they need to be the sexually adept 20 somethings they so aspire to be. It half works.

Jocelyn gains a sensual sense of self and begins exploring her desires freely. The same is not true for Ina. She continues making and breaking eye contact and flirty conversation with potential love interests but she can never follow through. She doesn't know why she’s still stuck. She tries everything: yoga, meditation, therapy, throwing herself into work -- still nothing.

Ina must learn that there is no love without risk.

"unbloomed" explores queer identity, coming of age, late blooming, female friendship, and the value of vulnerability.

This film features a predominantly female cast and at least 50% of the crew will be women. As a queer, Black filmmaker, it is important to me to amplify underrepresented voices in terms of LGBTQ+ stories, positive BIPOC representation, and women behind the camera. This film adheres to all of those aspirations and by supporting it, you would contribute to filling those same gaps.

Thank you so much for you contribution and interest in this project and I look forward to bringing this to life!

Best,
Zoë
