Kashell's Panzer Dragoon Saga

Hi everyone!

You might be wondering why I'm asking for only seven dollars on gofundme. Allow me to tell you a story.

On June 22nd 2016, I was contacted by a staffing agency. They told me that I would be a great fit for a job. After some conversation, we decided to meet later in the week to go over a few more things regarding this "exciting opportunity." A few minutes later I get this email:

"My account manager is walking someone in to [client company] at 12:30pm this afternoon and wanted to know if she could me you there for like 10 minutes? She knows it is very last second, but it would be very short and she would print your resume out and put in in the manager’s hand this afternoon! Let me know if that works for you. Thanks again!"

I said that would be fine. The meeting place was at a restaurant/deli in the downtown area. My immediate thought was "downtown = paid parking = *sigh*"

I inquired about the parking situation and the response to that was:

"There is a parking lot right across the street from the Deli/building and my manager will be able to validate your parking I believe when ya’ll meet."

I then get this after thanking him.

"It will definitely be validated by her and if for some reason it can’t be then I will pay for your parking myself haha."

That afternoon I met with the manager and it was pretty apparent that I was not a right fit for the job. And that's fine, but when I asked the hiring manager about parking she said that she was UNABLE to validate my parking slip. Furthermore, since we met at a restaurant but didn't pick up any food, I wasn't able to get the pass validated by them, either. Such woe and strife.

Here's my response to the first person I spoke with:

"We were able to meet up. She informed me of a few more things about the position as well as other potential opportunities. She's fully aware that I have less than the three years required experience but it sounds like we'll continue to go forward with this project. The bad news is that the [restaurant name] wasn't able to validate my parking slip. If your offer still stands to reimburse me, I'll kindly take you up on that. : )"

He asked how much it was, and I told him the amount was only 7 dollars. More on this later. Anyways,  he suggested I download an app called Venmo. Instead, I suggested just using PayPal. The last email I got from him that day was this:

"I don’t have my banking information right now. I just created a Pay Pal account. I will make sure I do that this afternoon when I get home. If I haven’t done it by tomorrow afternoon, please remind me!"

The day after seemed inconsiderate, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt and an extra day. Two days later on June 24, 2016 I asked if he was able to get things sorted out and haven't heard back since.

The story is over. Here's the thing: it's only seven dollars. I realize that. I'm fully aware that seven dollars can't really get you much these days. But, I'm annoyed. I was told that I would be great fit for the position. Not true, but it's all good. I sacrificed my precious lunch break to meet with this hiring manager and had to take a...wait for it...working lunch. But, again, it's all good. Then I learn that my white slip of parking doom couldn't be validated? I am so very saddened by these events that transpired.

Am I overreacting? Probably.
