Help Uncle Chris Rebuild his Bridge Again
Donation protected
Howdy folks,
My heart goes out to you all, and I hope we can together work toward a speedy recovery from the recent flooding across our home and neighboring states. I've already witnessed community efforts unlike I've ever seen before. Thank you to everyone who has made this tragedy less for their kindness, generosity, and hard work. From community dinners to volunteers working late into the night to hotels opening their doors to all, this has been truly an inspiring act to witness.
I sure wish this wasn't something I had to be asking for right now, but disaster has become our towns, our roads, our friends and family's homes, our basements, and our bridges. And my Uncle Chris's bridge. For the third time, he is now without simple access to leave his home. Chris, his dog, horse, and cats are stuck on the little farm across the brook from the blue Jamaica Village sign when coming down from Ball Mtn Dam into town. He has a truck to borrow for the time being because his vehicle is also stranded on the wrong of the brook. The water coming down from West Hill Road wiped out the entry to his bridge, weakening its support, and the raging creek, over which it usually provides a route, overtook it yet again. We've begun the process of planning to rebuild reusing what materials are salvageable and even considering options for a better placement of the bridge to avoid another devastating impact in the next flood.
I have created this fundraiser to provide him with the resources he needs to complete this project. He's ready to work and begin rebuilding, and if it were up to him, he'd be doing it all on his own! If you drive by, you'll likely see him out in the field cleaning up the mess that remained after his field drained. Honk! He loves to hear you :)
If you have anything to give, even a couple of bucks, it will go to good use, and he will be so grateful for your generosity. And if you can't give, please consider sharing this post to help get the word out. We appreciate you. We love you. And we thank you.
