Uncle Jerry is Toxic - Webseries Fundraiser

Hey Everyone!

 

We are raising money for our mini Series Uncle Jerry is Toxic, which is based on real events in the film industry.

 

In light of the recent #MeToo movement, the once golden film industry has been stained by the uncovering of sexual harassment and abuse behind the scenes. As more victims come forward it is obvious that there are still deeper rooted issues lurking beneath the surface. Lesser discussed issues such as abuse of power, unequal pay, racism, fear-mongering, etc. still haunt the industry today.

 

 

Podcast

 

Due to the pandemic, we had to push back the production of the web series. This prompted us to release a podcast on Spotify, in the meanwhile. We discussed how the series covers the deeper reasons why people act in harmful ways and how toxicity starts with one person but then snowballs creating problems for everyone in their way.

 

The series is fiction but heavily inspired by testimonies of people who work in different areas of the industry. We believe that the only way to eliminate toxicity is to, first of all, bring awareness to these complex issues. This is our goal with the series.

 

 

Synopsis:

 

‘Uncle Jerry is Toxic’ is a drama-comedy that follows a group of people making a film. From the writing room to the wrap party, each character is faced with challenges that make the audience question, is there truly one villain?

 

At the award show, everyone shows up with a beaming smile and deceiving speeches that don't exactly mirror the reality of what happened behind the scenes

 

Jerry, the producer, embodies toxicity without ever making a physical appearance. His power to fire anyone builds his God-like nature that everyone falls under.

 

 

Money

 

Since this is a non-profit project, the contributions will create the possibility of getting the production cost covered. Think of props, costumes, set design, location fees for the set.

 

Another part of the contribution will go towards submission fees for film festivals to continue our mission of spreading the word.

 

At the bare minimum, we want to thank our dear crew members with a decent meal during the shoot for their efforts.
