Support Kathy's Journey to Memphis Police Officer

Donation protected
All my life I wanted to be a cop, but many said I was a woman and too small. I spent a good career in real estate and when COVID cancelled that and left me with a lot of alone time to think, things began to change.

Then seeing all the problems with violence and trouble with Police, made me feel compelled to take action. The timing was right, I am unmarried, both my parents passed and this past January my daughter got married and moved to the east coast of Florida, I lived on the west coast of Florida.

I decided if it were meant to be, I would give it two chances, one locally in my home town of Cape Coral and one in a city I love, that needs a lot of help...Memphis. I applied for both. Cape Coral said no. Memphis said yes. I passed the interview, initial psyche, basic requirements, intake and all I have left were 4 things 1) Run (passed), Agility (failed). 2) Background investigation which I did not get to but there is nothing to prevent me from becoming a Cop 3) Academy for 5 1/2 months and state exam, which I believe, although hard, I am prepared for.

I learned after failing the agility twice that my 15 year hypothyroidism was overmedicated causing difficulty passing the agility. I never give up and upped my training, I eat one;y Whole Foods, get 8 hours sleep a night and don't drink. I am in great shape and now my thyroid is sorted.

I received a call from the MPD recruiter getting me ready for next academy which now starts in February. I took a all out calculator;ated risk, sold everything I owned moved to Memphis and drive Lyft to pay my bills. I paid all my debt off prior to coming here but am struggling paying everything driving for Lyft and the time I need to train.

The odds are against me; as a 5'2 woman at the age of 53, yet I am strong and healthy and determined to fulfill my dream and serve a community in dire need of help.

I will continue to drive Lyft until the academy and any help to support offsetting my bare needs of $2500 a month living expenses to minimize the hours driving for Lyft so I can train to make sure I fulfill this lifelong dream will be confirmation, gratitude with humility.

Thank you for considering any financial support you can, each dollar adds up.

Thank you for hearing my story and may you be abundantly blessed for your heart of giving.

Sincerely,

Kathy
