Unexpected Attorney Fees

Hello, I'm Joel from Caledonia, MI and I find myself in the midst of an unforeseen situation where I need to raise funds for Attorney Fees related to a civil lawsuit. While navigating this, I reached out to my legal insurance provider, Legal Shield, who initially assured me of additional "Pretrial hours" to help cover my lawyer's fees. This assurance was documented in a conversation on July 24, 2023.

However, the situation has taken an unexpected turn. Despite the recorded confirmation and the involvement of supervisors and management, Legal Shield has changed their stance, citing policy constraints. They are also withholding the recording that validates their initial commitment.

This has left me in a challenging position, as I've already committed to my lawyer, shared all necessary documents, and made an initial payment. To complicate matters further, my lawyer believes that the settlement agreement might be invalid due to factors like "undue influence" and "Unclean Hands."

While this change could be positive for me in the long run, the legal process ahead is likely to be financially demanding. This legal ordeal has not only taken a toll on my finances but has also disrupted the time I can spend with my family, especially my son Dominic. Last year, my mother's illness added to the strain, and her inheritance helped me address some of the debts accumulated during the settlement agreement. My lawyer believes I did not breach contract of the settlement agreement and believes this settlement agreement should be voided due to the evidence that he has seen.
