Unexpected Death of Husband and Father

On June 17, 2020, Officer Leonard Lee Sr. passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness leaving behind a wife and four children.

He was a devoted and loving father.  Officer Lee raised his two children, Leonard Jr. and Jessica, as a single parent following the sudden death of his wife.  He was widowed when the children were very small.  With their father's love, support, and guidance, Leonard and Jessica became educated and successful adults.

He was blessed to find love again when he met and married his beloved Carolee.  Together they welcomed Wesley aged 8 and Madisen aged 6. He was so proud of his family.  His face would light up whenever he talked about his wife and children.

Officer Lee was a true provider.  For years he worked two full-time jobs to support his family.  He wanted to make sure they had everything they needed.

He was also an ordained minister who shared his faith, a word of prayer, and spiritual guidance with anyone who sought his counsel.

At the time of his death, Officer Lee had been employed with Westchester County for thirty-seven years.  He helped countless individuals within the community change the negative trajectory of their lives by connecting them with community-based treatment, and employment opportunities.  Most of all he used his position of authority to treat those in his charge with compassion and respect.

Officer Lee was a man of great stature, professionalism, and presence.  He will be fondly remembered as a gentle giant by his fellow officers who affectionately called him 'Lenny' or 'Minister Lee'.  He was known as a jovial colleague who always greeted them with a broad smile, an impromptu riddle, or a soulful rendition of an old school song.  Most of all, it was his abounding kindness, his willingness to help a brother or sister in need, and his uncanny ability to offer an uplifting word to anyone in despair that will be sorely missed.

With all of the emotional pain and stress that death brings, it also brings financial burdens.  We seek to honor our brother who did so much for so many by rallying around his widow to secure the future education costs of their children.

We need your help to provide Officer Lee's widow with a college fund for Wesley and Madisen.

Thank you in advance for any support you may be able to provide.
