Unfairly Lost Her Job through Media assault

Hi I’m Don Wilburn and I’m fundraising for my daughter Donelle Evensen who has been in the National news spotlight in a city in Florida for the past few weeks.

Donelle ended up submitting her resignation as Principal of Bunnell Elementary School last night. She has been tried in the national media over the past few weeks over a proposed racial incident that happened in her very first week as Principal of the school.

Please understand that she educated herself…worked hard for 17 years in the same school district…was awarded Teacher of the year & Assistant Principal of the year honors. Then in 2023 was offered the Principal position of a 1200 student school in the Flagler County District of Florida.

In the midst of the opening week of school an African American teachers presented the idea of gathering the under achieving African American students together so that he could challenge them and offer incentives to them to raise there levels of achievement for the school year. Apparently the outgoing principal who was still officed in the building during the transition gave his approval …so when it got to Donelle’s attention she saw it as an opportunity to excite and motivate her students.

From that point a whirlwind of racial accusations caught fire drawing the attention of National Media. At first the school system appeared to back her saying this would probably be a 72 hour media event. As the racial accusations of separating black students from white began to build it became more evident that Donelle Evensen would become their sacrificial lamb on the altar of public & media attention.

Was this a malicious intent or racially motivated act? Of coarse not! Anyone who knows Donelle knows better. The Superintendent and School Board knows better. She was simply allowing an opportunity to excel to be presented to a group of her students as requested by an enthusiastic faculty member.

Unfortunately, Donelle will not be allowed to be forgiven in the public arena…there is no compassion or mercy in the media. She will no be allowed to motivate or carry her vision forward for the Bunnell Elementary school she had prepared for as Assistant Principal for the previous 4 years. The school district, though, will advance on a $3,000,000 scholarship that Donelle had written and was approved through the state.

She on the other hand resigned under the duress of either being demoted or fired. She will be labeled Racist. Her years of education prowess and advancement are potentially over! Over…not because she’s racist…not because she was found guilty…not because she deserves it. NO…because she was tried & convicted by the Mob of the Media.

Why then am I fundraising for her? Education is all she trained and prepared herself for. Her highest goal of Principal had been attained. Who will hire her now? How does she repair her broken image & heart at the expense of the Media? She has lost her income. She still had 25 years of education earnings before her…what now?
