Uniforms for Youth Soccer Club in Sierra Leone
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Akim Iscandari. I am a 15-year-old sophomore, and I am a scholar athlete that plays Varsity Football and Basketball at the Potomac School in McLean. I started a soccer club with my grandma Yeama Rahim, when I was 9 years old. The club is called Kaprie Stars. "Kaprie" which is my middle name and also my late great grandfather's name. I have always been very passionate about sports and I'm very lucky to have parents that support me in the all the sports and activities that I do. At age 9, when I saw a picture of kids my age in my grandmother's village in Sierra Leone, West Africa, playing soccer barefoot, with a makeshift ball, I wanted to do something about it. I asked my grandma how we can help, we started Kaprie Stars 6 years to support boys just like me, that are passionate about sports and do well in school. My grandma and I have been paying for their uniforms, equipment and also give them a small stipend each month to help them with food. We also pay for travels to go play against of the teams. The funds raised will be used to buy new uniforms and equipment for the team. My dream is to build a turf field for them to practice and play games. They currently play in gravel which is really difficult to play in and they get injured a lot. All proceeds will go toward the team and any additional funds raised will go towards this project. Your support is greatly appreciated. To learn more about the team please visit our website. https://kapriestars.org
