We are Team Kicking Cancer’s Bum. My husband, Hugo, was first diagnosed with high risk Prostate Cancer and in treatment the beginning of 2018 when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Uterine Cancer by June 2018. We are facing a devastating Stage 4 diagnosis with myself as well as devastating financial hardships and/or ruin having been unable to run our small business personally due to the illnesses we are fighting in addition to incurring medical bills that continue to pile up with treatment with no end in sight because we’re both fighting for our lives, and I am uninsured. Our small business, a Salsa Dance Club hasn’t been the same since we haven’t been as actively involved either. I fear a financial ruin Tsunami on the horizon. Setting up a GoFundMe page is both humbling and liberating at the same time just to be honest about our situation... to say it aloud so to speak is freeing, liberating. We are both able to work some but not in a position to draw the same salaries we were before because we are now paying others to perform duties we were once more able to do at our business, and our business has dropped too. I am actively looking for a second job at this point with hours more suitable for rest and my fight but no luck so far. Hugo is still under ADT treatment but has completed his radiation for now. However is still suffering from the exhaustion of 40 days of radiation and the after effects. After a very difficult surgery and recovery, I am now completing chemotherapy with several rounds more to go. We’re just a married couple that is fighting cancer together that needs financial help. And any little bit would help. It hasn’t been easy to stay positive facing our cancer diagnosis and potential financial ruin due to illness. We just hope to pay medical bills, keep a roof over our heads, and keep the doors open of our business while fighting cancer together.
