Unite for Trevor: Remembering Jenna Gilbert

Dear friends,

We are heartbroken to share the tragic news that Jenna Gilbert, a beloved member of the Durango community and Director of Admission at Fort Lewis College, passed away in a devastating car accident on June 16. Jenna was a radiant presence known for her passion for adventure, the outdoors, and education, and her infectious enthusiasm for life. At only 31, she had so many more memories to create.

Jenna moved from New York to Colorado in 2011, beginning her journey in Durango as a student at Fort Lewis College and eventually rising to lead the admissions team. Jenna's dedication and love for students and colleagues were unparalleled. She was also an active volunteer with Friends of the San Juans, an avalanche awareness organization. Her impact was profound, forging connections that will endure for years to come.

Jenna was a cherished friend to many, known for her ability to connect joyfully with people and her knack for storytelling. Whether on campus, atop Molas Pass, or at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Jenna's presence radiated warmth and positivity.

Now, we face the daunting task of moving forward without her. Jenna leaves behind her younger brother Trevor, who was not just her family but also her closest companion and confidant. Trevor now needs our support more than ever as he navigates this unimaginable loss.

To assist Trevor during this difficult time and as he takes on full ownership of the home he and Jenna purchased together, covering the expenses of living in our costly community and unforeseen costs related to Jenna's passing, we have launched this GoFundMe campaign. Every contribution, large or small, will help ease the financial burden and allow Trevor to focus on healing and honoring Jenna's memory.
