For Iranian LGBTQ movement in Canada

In the midst of the #Woman_Life_Freedom movement, Pride Parade is a unique chance to go hand in hand and make our dream for equity, equality and inclusion come true! We, a group of independent Iranian queers gathered to create a safe space and initiate a movement with the purpose of planning and organizing our Iranian representation in the pride parades in Canada.

The #woman_Life_Freedom movement against the Islamic regime in Iran started with the arrest and murder of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman, by morality police for not complying with the compulsory Hijab. The protests have evolved into a revolution since and are continuing to grow with rallies across the globe.

Restrictions and punishments in the Islamic Republic of Iran which violate international human rights norms are not limited to the compulsory hijab. It includes harsh penalties for crimes, punishment of victimless crimes such as fornication and homosexuality, execution of offenders under 18 years of age, restrictions on freedom of speech and the press (including the imprisonment of journalists), and restrictions on freedom of religion and gender equality in the Islamic Republic's Constitution.

Over the past 43 years, Iranian queers have been Jailed, tortured and executed by this regime. Not only is there any law to protect them or a system to educate people, but this “government” is the biggest threat to them as well as a majority of Iranians.

What would be the impact of your donation?

Our mission is to bring attention and awareness to the Iranian queer community and help/support Iranians both inside and outside of the country. To be a voice for those who are suffering and are in danger inside the country as well as those who were forced to leave their homes and start a new life from somewhere safer in this world.

Supporting Iranian LGBTQ+ refugees and immigrants all over the world and especially those in Turkey and increasing awareness about their situation is one the main items on our agenda.

Our short-term goal and the main purpose for this fundraising is to guarantee support for those representing our community on Toronto and Vancouver Pride Parades. We are organizing and providing financial support for Iranian queer individuals, groups and organizations who will be advocating for the community during pride month 2023.
