Reparations Film - Help Chrystal fund a feature film
Donation protected
My name is Chrystal Rose.
After years of being rejected for funding by the BBC and the BFI, I wrote, produced and directed a short film, 'Too Young For Love', which has now been selected for 28 film festivals all over the world. We have won 12, including Best Director, Best Female Director, Best First Time Director, Best First Time Filmmaker, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best International Short Film, Best Short Film, Best Cinematographer and Best Production Design.
'Too Young For Love' had a world premiere in Cannes, courtesy of Next Step Film Festival and we're still finalists in other festivals yet to be decided. Here are a few.
We now want to shoot a feature movie which I have written, will produce and direct. It's entitled, 'United Kingdom Reparations' and starts where 'Too Young For Love' ends.
For the past 3 years my full time job was looking after my wonderful Mum who sadly passed on 3rd May 2024. My Mum was the Executive Producer of 'Too Young For Love'. It's a shame that she is not here physically to experience the success, but she is certainly with me in spirit.
I shot 'Too Young For Love' over two days with a fantastic team of professionals and despite being told by the BBC that I have no talent, no creativity and no fresh ideas, the reaction to my short says vastly differently. I am joining forces with key crew who I worked with on 'Too Young For Love' again to make 'United Kingdom Reparations'.
Please help us to prove the funders wrong yet again. Creatives should be supported regardless of colour, age and experience.
In order to progress and produce 'United Kingdom Reparations', I need to raise film finance and hope that you will be able to help.
'United Kingdom Reparations' touches on the involvement of the British Royal family, the British Government and the Church of England in the Slave Trade.
The story follows a one-day-old Black baby girl who is abandoned in a London telephone box by her 15-year-old mother.
The child grows up to be a barrister. Learning about her roots, her picture=perfect life starts to unravel when she realises that she's marrying into a family whose wealth stems from the Slave Trade.
My financiers funding has yet to land. My cast, crew and I, have decided to soldier on and raise the finance needed to shoot 'Reparations' this year. Please help to tell this important story by donating and sharing this GoFundMe page.
No raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or returns on investment are offered in exchange for any donations made to this GoFundMe. 10.08.24
