My name is Matthew Yeoh and I’ve long supported the work on the United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP), which provides nutrition to those facing extreme hunger all around the world. Due to their operational expertise; they are one of the few humanitarian organisations which have a high impact, practical and long-term focus. For example, with the recent humanitarian aid restrictions in Gaza, the UNWFP has been working with local organisations within Gaza on direct cash transfers and airdrops. The UNWFP is currently focusing its food aid programmes in regions facing severe hunger such as Gaza and Sudan.
On 30 November 2024, I completed the Singapore Standard Charted Marathon 10km with crutches in 2 hours and 47 minutes, in a bid to raise money for the work of the UNWFP. The situation may seem hopeless where they work but I hope we won't give up on the small and significant contributions we can still make.
