United with Nancy in her fight against cancer

Hi, I am fundraising on behalf of my daughter Nancy Hidalgo as she faces the battle of her life. Nancy is 21 years old and she was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD. She loves traveling, reading, writing, going to church, and spending time with her family.

On November 1st, 2021 we received the call that would change our lives forever. After an X-ray and CT Scan of her chest due to a cough that wouldn't go away, the doctor called to inform us that it looked like it was cancer that had spread to her lungs, lymphatic system, and spine. Our world fell apart and suddenly some things we thought mattered, all of a sudden didn't. Everything changed that day.

A second CT scan of her abdomen on November 3rd, 2021 confirmed a 9cm mass on her right kidney and additional metastases on her hip bone, spine, and lungs. She then had 2 biopsies to confirm where the cancer originated and bloodwork for genetic testing that confirmed she has Hereditary Leiomyomatosis and Renal Cell Carcinoma (HLRCC). A very aggressive form of kidney cancer.

Although the doctors have said that they can not cure this cancer and their only hope is to prolong her life as much as possible, Nancy has proven she is without a doubt a warrior. She has been strong and courageous this entire year going through chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation, sometimes all 3 at once. I have learned so much from her strength and willingness to beat this that my faith continues to grow every day because of her. She has faith that God will completely heal her! On November 2nd, 2022 she faced another hurdle in this battle as she went in for surgery to partially remove a tumor from her spine. That surgery went well but because they were unable to get the entire tumor she will have to undergo further radiation treatment that will be done at Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota in the coming weeks.

Fighting cancer is expensive and there are many things we didn't think about like fertility preservation medications, travel expenses, tests, scans, medications, and more when this journey started a year ago. Bills keep adding up and the goal is to help alleviate the financial burden so that she can focus solely on getting better. My hope is that you can help Nancy by making a donation.
