University Tuition Fee for 2021

Donation protected
Dear Colleagues,

My name is Emmanuel Ikechukwu Iheanacho, I am a second-year student of London Southbank University studying BSc mental health nursing havering campus. I got my settlement (indefinite leave to Remain) this year in July. I borrowed from the bank to pay my year one Tuition fee 19/20 because I believed that next year, I would get my papers and I did get my settlement this year, and I will get student funding. I applied to student finance England and the NHS learning support grant this year and both institutions rejected my application I was shocked and confused. When I called to understand why I was refused, I was informed by a member of their team via telephone that I am not entitled to receive this funding, and was told that because I was not having my settlement last year before I started my course disqualifiers me from receiving student finance and the NHS learning support grant even now that I have my paper.
I sent them an email for more clarification to ask why am I not entitled since I am now a settled resident in UK and that my circumstances had changed, they replied by saying it is a new eligibility criteria set by the Department of Health and finance and the same criteria has been applied to the NHS learning support grant. ‘’NON-UK NATIONALS MUST HAVE SETTLED STATUS ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE FIRST ACADEMIC YEAR OF THE COURSE - WHICH COULD BE 1 SEPTEMBER, 1 JANUARY, 1 APRIL OR 1 JULY’’. I called to tell them that I am not a NON UK national am a British national and they said what I hold is an indefinite leave to remain in UK it does not make me a British nation. My colleagues I was refused student finance and NHS learning support grant just because I started my course before having my indefinite leave to remain. This is a big concern and worry to me because I will not be able to continue my education and achieve my dream.
Please I will appreciate if my colleagues and friends can give me small contribution (widows mite) from their grant please, this will help me to meet up with the bank demands and pay my tuition.
Thank you.

Kind regards,
Emmanuel Iheanacho
