MUNA - Medical students United with Neighbors across America
Here at UNL, we have partnered with UNMC to create our own branch of the MUNA project intended to serve the Lincoln community. With your donation, we can purchase food and hygiene products specifically tailored to the unique needs of the refugee populations we serve. We are so grateful for your support.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has left many families around the nation without the stability or adequate food and supplies they need to be well. Refugees and immigrants are particularly vulnerable populations during these times, as they often have fewer resources and social capital for support. This need was the drive behind UNMC MUNA's project, “The MUNA Box”, which provides refugee and immigrant populations in Nebraska cities and towns with supplemental staple foods and health necessities that may help brace or bridge a gap of insecurity for these families.
While UNMC MUNA started this organization with the idea to provide food resources in this time of need, The MUNA Box Project grew quickly to symbolize something more than just food security - it symbolizes building a strong community through the union of public health and service to and for others.
