Send J'Miyah and Alaina to Camp!

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

My name is Daniel Pollitt, and I am the 6th grade math teacher at Quitman County Middle School  (QCMS) in Marks, Mississippi . QCMS is a 98% African-American, Title I School in the Mississippi Delta with 100% of its students qualifying to receive free and reduced lunch. In addition to being very poor, the majority of the students at QCMS are multiple grade levels behind in both math and language arts.

However, there is a small group of brilliant, hardworking students at QCMS who are rarely challenged in school. Two of these aforementioned students are J’Miyah Smith and Alaina Allen. These two seventh grade girls are straight A students with ACT scores on par with the average high school junior in the state of Mississippi.

J’Miyah and Alaina were recently accepted to attend the University of Mississippi’s Summer Academy , a two-week residential summer camp for academically advanced 8th, 9th, and 10th graders. They both received partial scholarships to attend the Summer Academy; however, their families are unable to afford the remaining costs of tuition. We are seeking $2,000 to cover the remaining costs, and any donation would be greatly appreciated!

These two girls would really benefit from an academically rigorous and socially enriching summer on the campus of a major university. Please help them experience the summer of a lifetime!

Sincerely,

Daniel Pollitt, J’Miyah Smith, and Alaina Allen
