Unravelling - A Community Film

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lisa and I am fundraising to make a movie in my home town. I have been working on this project for close to ten years so now it's time to, as Nike says, Just Do It! I've been involved in theatre for most of my life (which is a long time). Anyone else who is in the same field (the dramatics) will know we are our own worst critics so I have been writing, editing, rewriting, editing, rewriting. I have wonderful friends and family who tell me "come on, it's ready" but my own self tells me "if I just change this bit and move this here...". So, now it's ready. It's called "Unravelling" and here is a little synopsis:
"Unravelling" tells the story of Allie, a woman whose life has been slowly imploding after the murder of her wife. After a blissfully happy ten years, she is now a borderline high functioning addict facing the prospect of her wifes murderer getting out of prison. She also has to contend with an overprotective daughter who should be concentrating on fixing her own problems and leaving her mother alone. Allie's fragile mind is cracking under the pressures life is throwing at her. The only person who gives her what she needs (as long as she has the cash) is Fish but is she going to ask him for something that will be her unravelling.

This is a story that is very important for me to tell. It's been with me for ten years and I want to share it. It's also important to tell stories like this that has LGBTQ+ representation. We don't see too many lesbians leading stories like this. Seeing queer people representated makes us feel less lonely. It brings visibility and awareness of the community to the wider community. We all need to identify with people like us, to feel we belong.

I have looked at so many funding streams but there isn't much out there for individuals so I'm looking to you for help. Here's a quick synopsis of the story:

This is a community film project. All cast and crew are volunteers from Tipperary. Our cast are amazingly talented and our camera crew is led by the very talented Caleb Barrett. We are learning as we go and if you have a burning desire to get involved feel free to reach out to us.

There is a great buzz around the fim project and so many local businesses have been so kind, letting us use their locations for scenes, giving us spot prizes for fundraising events etc.

We start filming in the next few weeks. We are in the rehearsal phase at the moment, using the Marian Hall as our rehearsal venue.

Even though it's all volunteers on board there are still a lot of costs involved. Insurance, feeding the cast, equipment upkeep and hire etc. So we need to raise as much money as we can.

Whatever donations you can give will be gratefully received and everyone will get mentioned in the credits.
We have a little extra should you be able to give that little bit more.
  • The first 50 people to donate €50 will get executive producer credit, a ticket to the premier with champagne reception and signed movie poster.

We'll keep you posted with our progress as we go and we really appreciate all the support so far whether it be, funds, locations, props, food etc. Every little helps!
