Unreal fundraiser to celebrate #dodiemonth

To celebrate #dodiemonth, we're raising money for the mental health charity Unreal!

Depersonalisation and Derealisation Disorder (DPRD) is a mental health condition, which dodie suffers from. DPRD can be described in many different ways but essentially, it is a persistent feeling of being disconnected from your own body (Depersonalisation) or feeling disconnected from the world around you (Derealisation).

Even though up to 1.2 million UK adults suffer from DPRD, the disorder remains largely unrecognised.

- There is no mention of it in NHS guidelines
- Only 1.4 full-time NHS staff provide any specialist care in the UK
- There is no specialist NHS service for under 18's

Unreal is the only UK charity that exists to raise awareness of the disorder. dodie is one of their Ambassadors and it is a cause very close to her heart.

The charity is run entirely by volunteers. Their mission is to reach out to people with lived experience of DPRD and their carers and families. They seek to raise awareness of DPRD, to provide support and to promote involvement through providing up to date information, signposting, networking, the sharing of experiences and by celebrating success. They are a very new charity with a lot of work to do!

dodie has helped so many people by talking about her own experiences of DPRD. We want to raise funds to help Unreal and dodie spread more awareness of DPRD and to help more people who desperately need their support.
