Written by Joshua Duncan and Directed by Raúl Midence, the film “Unspoken Years” explores the themes of estranged families and the dynamics between children and their parents.
After learning of his mother’s worsening illness, estranged son Matthew, returns to his hometown only to be confronted by his reformed alcoholic father, Tony.
Fighting for a chance to reconcile with his son, Tony asks for a moment to talk about how he’s changed, and what has caused the many years of silence between the two of them. Holding onto years of resentment, Matthew struggles to accept Tony's efforts to change.
Can he move past their shared history? Can the two find common ground?
Many of us have grown up with estranged parental relationships, and struggle to come to terms with how that makes us feel. The acceptance of these feelings has to be achieved through an understanding from both sides, the parents and the children.
Our film “Unspoken Years” highlights the complexity of these relationships, and through an unexpected conversation, shows us how healing can begin when both sides confront each other.
Your generous support will help fund our production’s location, transportation, and food for the cast and crew.
We can’t wait to bring Unspoken Years to life and take you through our journey from script to screen.
