Support our Art Therapy Group for vulnerable young people
SUPPORT US TO REDUCE YOUTH SUICIDE AND SELF-HARM
Do you want to join me in making a difference?
I'm raising money in aid of Untapped (UK) CIO and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
Untapped need to raise £3000 to provide an Art Therapy Group for 8 vulnerable young people who are unable to attend mainstream school due to anxiety, trauma, or no provision being able to meet their SEN needs.
They are a charity in the Bournemouth area aiming to reduce youth suicide and self harm, bringing the gap between what families can afford and what teh NHS can provide. They specialise in working with neurodivergent children and young people, many of whom are out of school as no provision can be found to adequately meet their needs.
2023 saw a significant rise of 23% in the number of children unable to attend school due to anxiety, compared to 2022.
Many parents are forced to educate at home, due to the lack of accessible special educational and mental health support needed for their children. (Source: Children's Commissioner)
From Untapped Art Therapy:
Support our Art Therapy Group and help individuals unlock healing through creativity. Our sessions offer a safe space for participants to explore emotions, reduce stress, and build meaningful connections.
"Imagine being a young person who feels like they don’t belong anywhere. For 8 vulnerable children, this is their reality. Anxiety and trauma weigh them down, and their special needs are too complex for mainstream schools to accommodate. They are left feeling isolated, misunderstood, and lost.
We want to change their story. With your help, we aim to raise £3,000 to create an Art Therapy Group—an inviting, safe space where these children can express what they can’t always put into words. Through creativity and connection, they’ll begin to heal, rediscover their confidence, and feel like they belong again. This isn’t just about therapy; it’s about giving them back their hope."
Why Support This?
* Express Challenging Emotions Creatively
For those struggling to communicate their feelings, art becomes a powerful outlet. Children and young people can express complex emotions that are often hard to put into words, leading to greater emotional clarity and relief.
* Reduce Anxiety and Stress
Art therapy has been proven to decrease stress and anxiety. The process of creating allows individuals to shift their focus away from daily worries and enter a state of mindfulness, promoting mental peace.
* Build Social Connections
Our group fosters a supportive community where children and young people can share experiences in a non-judgmental space. This sense of belonging combats isolation and helps build new friendships.
* Creative and Collaborative Problem-Solving
Engaging in artistic expression stimulates the brain and encourages new ways of thinking. Children and young people learn to approach life's challenges with greater creativity and resilience.
* Guided by a Qualified Art Psychotherapist
Our sessions are led by a HCPC Registered Art Psychotherapist, ensuring that everyone receives expert guidance and support as they navigate their personal journeys.
By contributing to this campaign, you’re not only helping vulnerable children and young people improve their mental health, but also empowering them to rediscover their inner strength through art.
Many thanks to our charity partners The Dorset Children's Foundation for generously providing a venue.
