Up and Go Walking Machine

September, 2019

Dear Friends,

It has been three years since we have come back from Boston from Mass General where we worked hard with the Drs. to find a diagnosis and reversible goals for Bob's new rare condition.

Sadly, there are no cures for neurodegenerative syndromes at this time in history.  While this is a new reality for us, we are inspired to report that Bob is stable, and that we take it one day at a time.

We are proud that we have created a RighT to MoVement Program around his case in his community that is a model to be used for all persons in his condition to add to his quality of life in his new condition.

Everyone has a right to move...and in these neurodegenerative processes, insurances kick the patient off of their much needed Occupational and Physical therapy practices claiming they are not improving.  This is far from true.

The brain is elastic.  Every person has their own measures of improvement to be identified within their own person centered care plan.  And, if they are not addressed, this rejection of services for movement actually contributes to decline.

Within Bob's community, we have been able procure a specialized movement program around Bob's story.  This includes a specialist, a new walking machine we are working to procure, and a weekly training with practitioners on how to more effectively lay their hands on patients with neurodegenerative conditions.

These milestones, while great achievements, are costly to the family given the set-up what insurance will cover -- which is nothing.  Insurances cite that the person has neurodegeneration - and therefore, won't get better with occupational and physical therapeutic services.

We find this unacceptable.  I am writing to appeal to you to be a part of procuring Bob's right to move by giving a donation.

All monies for this September appeal will be used to continue to execute Bob's movement program in his community  -- to specifically procure a standing machine, so that it can be used for strengthening his legs so maybe, with your help -- he can walk again.  Be part of creating a miracle for Bob!

We will also share this machine with others in Bob's community, so they can benefit too!  We are delighted we can be of service in our journey to others.

Our goal is $7,500.00.

We are deeply grateful for any contribution that you are able to make to achieve our goal.
