We would like to thank all of our customers for your continuous support throughout our 16 years in business here at Upi Jaya. It is with a heavy heart to announce Upi Jaya will be closing its doors, by the end of November. Head chef, founder, owner, and my mother, Ibu Upi is proud to have been the first authentic, halal Indonesian restaurant here in New York City, and to have been able to share her passion of cooking and introduce authentic Indonesian cuisine to the community and people around the world.

This pandemic has affected us all in various ways. Unfortunately, operating during these unprecedented times has become far too difficult for a small business such as ours to be sustainable. Winter is our slowest season of the year. The overall overhead of running a restaurant is too costly, and the uncertainty of the business returning back to normal leads us with no choice but to close our doors, for now...

We have created this fund to help settle some small debts, relieve some of the financial stresses to our staff, and to aid with any other expenses needed to close up shop. No donation is too small, and we whole-heartly would appreciate any effort on your end to help relieve some of our stressors. We are truly grateful for this opportunity and all of your continued support.

We plan to reopen somewhere again in the future. Same authentic Indonesian cuisine you all know and love, just under a different approach; but as of right now, we simply have to come to terms of our doors at our beloved 76 Street closing. We don’t have all the details at the moment, but we assure you some form or another, we will return. We truly love and appreciate all of our customers, near and far. Stay safe. Until next time.
