For our inspirational mate, father and husband; a total legend, now with a long road to recovery ahead.

On Wednesday evening, 27th of August, Carl was riding with his mates, as he had done religiously for the past 15 years in the foothills of Mount Wellington. An uncharacteristic fall and unlucky landing resulted in Carl fracturing all vertebra in his neck from C2-C7.

Damage on his spinal cord means he is currently unable to breathe for himself and is paralysed from his neck down. We are hoping for an improvement in his situation, but the road to recovery will be long. Carl has lived his life in the outdoors and has inspired many others to do the same. Whether mountain biking, trail running, kayaking or just being, the bush is Carl's happy place. His selfless and extraordinarily generous fund-raising efforts for Tassie's wild places and ethical, wholly Australian, small business and devotion to wife and three kids highlight this exceptional man. Carl's infectious enthusiasm and energy has spread far and wide within his beloved state of Tasmania. You can imagine how this new reality is devastating for Carl and his loved ones.

Carl has been moved to the Austin Hospital in Melbourne for specialist spinal rehabilitation that will last months and the outcome of improving his situation is uncertain.

Carl has enriched the lives of so many in the community and right across Australia, so we have setup this page for anyone that is wishing to support Carl and his family in this time of need.
