Hi everyone.
About a year ago, I started to develop a small tumor-like growth. Unfortunately I was not financially able to participate in the newly formed health care system at the time.
This past January, I signed on with Edgardo's Health plan and started seeing doctors. The money I have been saving weekly to meet my high deductible has been all but depleted.
Since being diagnosed in March, my surgery has been postponed 3 times due to lack of funds.
The last time was an eye-opener to me. I received a call 2 days before surgery asking me to bring $3500 on the day of surgery. Money I don't have.
I spoke with my doctor who said the cost was due to fulfilling my deductible among other things. I then asked what his up-front costs were. Anywhere from $2000 to $2500.
After surgery, I will also be out of work for 2 weeks. Another hardship.
At the present time, I work 6-7 days a week. None of my occupations allows for paid time off. I do have sponsors, but the financing will have to be paid back. So far, without interest.
If anybody is in a position to help, I will be forever grateful.
