Urban Perinatal Education Center
Our largest priority is funding to purchase a building for the Urban Perinatal Education Center.
The goals for the Urban Perinatal Education Center, UPEC,for this year are to continue assessing the needs of the community for maternal health services through services, classes, and training. The healthcare system, community resources, and needs are continually changing work. The anticipated community outreach goals funding would be to host a communal activity to gather data for doula services, childbirth education, community tabling, and networking, provide resources and information; host a training or professional development for birth workers and convene local partners gathering for next steps in implementation for locale co-working hub to facilitate ideas, and discussions.
Help us reach our building goals ($250k) for a perinatal care center acquisition and renovations, a safe space to help us address the disparate lack of community congruent care of reproductive health, childbearing rights and perinatal education services.
Expanding community-based perinatal staff with ethnic and cultural diversity reflective of those who need services the most (new African Americans, Black women, and Latinx families)
Increase our community outreach for perinatal services with community based doula support, building our network and capacity for Black/Brown doula services in communities
