Urgent Adenomyosis Treatment fundraiser

Donation protected
This fundraiser is for a close person to us suffering with severe issues regarding their ovaries. They are on a 2 year waiting list for surgery, but each day changes their likelihood of permanent recovery or even partial use of their ovaries. In some cases, the suggested surgery that their waiting for doesn't even fix the issue, and a hysterectomy is required.

The longer this condition is left untreated, the further it develops. This can lead to distortion of the organs, requiring immediate medical attention. Stage 4 Advanced Adenomyosis requires aggressive and personalised treatment to prevent complications. This condition usually affects people in their 40s or 50s, but this fundraiser is for someone who started experiencing symptoms as a teenager.

The symptoms she experiences include fatigue, exhaustion, and chronic and debilitating pain leaving her bed bound. She struggles to sleep, she is unable to work in the office anymore, and her social and personal life is deeply affected too. There is no pain relief medication that is successful for her, meaning her only treatment option remaining is surgery. There is also incredibly heavy menstrual periods and frequent diarrhea, which is deeply distressing for her.

Left untreated, Adenomyosis can lead to infertility, miscarriage, and chronic iron-deficiency anemia due to blood loss. The only cure for this condition is unfortunately a hysterectomy, removing the uterus. However, this means she could never have children. Many people with Adenomyosis are offered an Adenomyectomy, removing uterine fibroids. Whilst this surgery may not be successful, it leaves her with a chance of having children.

The longer she waits, the further pain she is in, the further complications she could have, and the further her symptoms debilitate her. We want to support her in seeking private treatment so that she has the best chance for the life she wants, the life she deserves.

'Starting at age 11, I have had menstrual issues that have affected my ability to have a normal life. To be able to have a semblance of a normal life after struggling for so long is a surreal dream. It would be a dream come true to be able to have the freedom from this condition and its debilitating symptoms, to be able to enjoy my friends, family, and boyfriend, and not to wait for the condition to deteriorate.

I am so thankful for this, and I hope to advocate for others like myself in this position in the future.'
