Help for orphan children injured in Kitale, Kenya accident

Donation protected

Monday April 21 update. The total bill has been updated to 6500.00 to reflect all 5 surgeries and his George’s continued mandatory stay in the hospital till the debt is clear. 2000.00 has been paid so we still need to clear 4500.00.
Wednesday April 16 update. Through the GoFundMe account and other personal donations we have able to send Ruth and David about $2000 towards the $4500 medical bill. George is stable enough to be released but they will not be able to take him from the hospital until the debt is satisfied or an alternative is found. And yes, the bill will continue to go up as long as he is in the hospital. If he leaves the hospital without the debt being paid they could be arrested. Medical care in Kenya is very different than ours here in the United States. $2500 seems to be a very large amount of money to raise yet so I’m just going to keep sharing it and hope we can help a whittle away at the bill one donation at a time.

Monday April 14 update. I talked to Ruth today and George remains in the hospital. Their current bill is sitting right at $4300. I edited our goal to reflect more realistically where the bill is at this point. And as always, we appreciate your prayers and any financial support you can give us to help them pay these bills and please share on your own social media pages. thank you.

Sunday April 13 update. The 3 boys released continue recovering at the orphanage. On Thursday, April 10, George was stable enough to have the surgery to repair his broken thigh. As of that date there is still blood leakage into his chest that they are continuing to drain. It sounds like they are hoping this to resolve without surgical intervention. I have not spoken to Ruth in a few days so I do not know if George is still in hospital. That being said their hospital bill numbers in the thousands. We have been able to raise and distribute 995.00 through this campaign. We continue to pray that we will be able to raise the funds needed to cover the hospital bills. We would very much appreciate your prayers, financial support if you are able or just sharing this campaign on your personal social media pages to this effect.

Tuesday April 8 update. George remains in the hospital. The hope was to do surgery yesterday to fix his broken thigh. But that decision was again put off as he threw up a large amount of blood. So internal bleeding remains an issue. The other boys are home and recovering.

Saturday update: Sammy got to leave the hospital to recover at home. George is still too unstable for the surgery to repair his broken hip. This precious boy is hurt badly. The driver of the car has not been caught. Ruth is taking care of the 3 injured boys at home and George in the hospital. Over there, the family provides food and a lot of bodily care for a hospital patient. Thanks to everyone who has asked how it's going.

We help support a small, privately run orphanage called TanJed Children’s Home in Kitale, Kenya.
On Monday, April 1st, some of the children were at the market. A vehicle entered the market and struck four children from behind. The vehicle fled the scene and police are searching for it. One child was not injured badly enough to be hospitalized, three were. Aaron was discharged Tuesday. George and Sammy remain in the hospital. George has a broken upper thigh bone that will need surgery and a rod. He had quite a bit of blood loss and required a donation from the other child Sammy. This morning, an MRI discovered that he has a blood clot in his lung so surgery needs to wait until he is more stable. Unlike here in the US, drivers are not required to have insurance so David and Ruth will have to figure out a way to pay for all of this if the driver is never found. This is also planting season for them and if they don’t plant, they don’t eat. It is that simple. I know people who have visited them and their work is legitimate. Their expenses and needs are real. The surgery to repair George’s leg starts at about $3000 and that doesn’t include all the hospitalization fee and the other two children have had to this point. Please pray for the healing of all the children and if you can help financially to cover the medical costs we would greatly appreciate it. All funds donated will be sent to help cover medical fees.
