Sean Walker’s Doctors say Sean is losing his battle. They don’t expect him to live much longer. His heart is failing quickly. We still pray for that last minute miracle but wanted to ask for assistance in final expenses, funeral planning, and for his girl’s future. Please pray for peace for all of our family as we navigate this traumatic period in our lives especially for his 9 year old daughter Madison snd 17 year old daughter Allison!
We’re struggling now to get things under control. The kids and Catie are struggling with the ups and downs. Please help if you can!!
The mental and financial strain is overwhelming! The risk of losing Sean is very real. With survival his recovery is looking at months of supportive care and rehab. Family has no income now with Sean in Ann Arbor and Catie by his side. Their home is evicted and getting another isn’t going to be easy! The bills keep piling up! Sean is been in ICU in Midland and now in Ann Arbor for over a month and endured 3 surgeries so far! Sean is 36! And to be clear - this medical crisis had nothing to do with drug use of any kind.
My son-in-law, Sean Walker, has an autoimmune disease Pyoderma gangrenosum which causes ulcers on his legs to develop and often takes years to be eradicated. This summer, he was making some headway, and a medical mistake created a life-threatening situation for Sean. The PICC line they used for his treatment was not properly medicated and developed MRSA, which got into his bloodstream. It caused infection to rapidly spread throughout his body, causing him to go septic and then develop septic shock, which in a matter of hours creating a deadly level of lactic acid that affected all his organs, causing various levels of organ failure. He had been in MyMichigan Midland and in Ann Arbor hospital for over a month so far in ICU in extremely critical condition. While his survival was less than 30% likely, he seemed to be beating this illness until his heart also got involved. He was transferred to UofM Ann Arbor hospital for critical care and surgery. Upon arrival, they found his intestines had developed tears, and he had to go into emergency surgery. Now right back to an extremely critical situation, we continue to pray and fight. His wife, Catie, is in a bad way and absolutely terrified for her 36-year-old husband's health. And their two daughters, Madison, age 9, and Allison, age 17, are terrified as well. Now on short-term disability, which has taken weeks to even start at only a couple hundred dollars a week, they are faced with mounting bills in arrears and losing their home. Eviction is likely since they've paid all they could until the funds dried up leaving another $2,000 in rent/fees. We, as Catie's parents, have been helping with care and transportation, which is costing $100+ a day even with our gas miser car. Food and hotel now is up to hundreds of dollars, and our ability to do it alone is stretched to a limit. We ask for prayers and any funds you can spare to help with the mounting costs. Every little bit helps!!
