Leah needs help!
She needs hernia repair surgery and I won't be able to save up enough in time.
Leah has had a hard life. I got her from a rescue who reported that they got her from a breeder where she was used, bred until she developed a hernia and would likely die if she continued laying eggs. I thank God that they at least decided to dump her in a cardboard box outside a rescue rather than put that final nail in her coffin. But they came close enough! She has a hernia and an egg inside that migrated into hernia. She needs X-rays, bloodwork, a hormone implant that will stop her from creating eggs in the future and hernia repair Surgery. Right now, the surgery estimate is over $2,500 and that doesn't include other visits, care, and medication. I'm saving 90% of my own paychecks but it won't be enough in the time she has.
I also found out that both her wings likely have old fractures. There's nothing that can be done about that—they're healed and don't seem to cause her pain, but it only makes me more sad to wonder what sort of life she had before she was rescued. I lost a beloved bird before, and I couldn't bear to lose Leah too. If she can get the treatment she should be able to live many more years, and I plan to make them the best, healthiest, happiest years she could possibly have. She deserves some happy years, to know how it feels to be safe and loved. Every little bit helps and thank you so very much if you're able to help her/us! ❤️ I will never forget the kindness and support!
